Terms of Use
Terms of Use for ByeCtrlClick
Last updated: October 19, 2026
1. Scope
These terms apply to the use of the macOS app ByeCtrlClick (“the App”), provided by Alexander Ils, trading as ixl21s (“I”, “me”). My contact details are listed in the Legal notice. By installing or using the App you agree to these terms.
2. Purchase
The App is sold through third-party platforms, currently Gumroad and Setapp. The purchase contract, payment, invoicing and refunds are handled according to the terms of the platform you buy from. If you use the App through Setapp, Setapp’s terms apply in addition to these terms.
3. License
With a purchase you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the version of the App you bought on Macs that you personally own or control. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the App, and you may not remove or circumvent its license checks. Reverse engineering is only permitted where mandatory law allows it.
4. Trial
The direct download may include a free trial period. After the trial ends, a license is required to keep using the App.
5. What the App does
ByeCtrlClick needs the macOS Accessibility permission to intercept Control-clicks system-wide. Depending on the features you enable (for example Gaming Mode), the App can also prevent your Mac from sleeping, pause Time Machine backups, enable the Metal performance HUD, start at login and quit apps you have selected. You decide which of these features are active and can turn them off at any time in the App’s settings. Please save your work before using features that quit other apps.
6. Updates
I may provide updates that fix bugs, add features or adapt the App to new macOS versions. I do not guarantee that future macOS versions or every third-party app or game will be supported.
7. Warranty
Statutory warranty rights apply. The App is provided as is, without any guarantee beyond those rights.
8. Liability
I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence I am only liable for the breach of essential contractual obligations, and only for typical, foreseeable damage. Any further liability is excluded. In particular, you are responsible for backing up your data.
9. Privacy
How I handle personal data is described in my Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
I may update these terms for future versions of the App. The version that applied when you purchased remains valid for that purchase.
11. Governing law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms: see the contact details in the Legal notice.
